Start off small and work with one word/concept at a time and slowly build bigger messages. Model, Model, Model! Use the board yourself to communicate first by pointing to key words WHILE you are speaking.

^Use this board for Aided Language.
^Point to the pictures on the board as you are saying those words.
^Model this for your child and encourage him/her to point to the pictures as well!
^Once the child understands how to use the board, he/she can use it to request or comment by pointing to 1 or more pictures/words with or without speech.
